Along with the recognition in the field of training highly qualified specialists, our university is supposed to be one of the leading sports institutions in the region. The significant sports achievements of the university's students have been made possible thanks to the coordinated work of the teachers-mentors of the Department of Physical Education and Tourism, where rich sports traditions have been developing since its establishment in 1990. Our athletes are multiple winners and medalists of competitions at the all-Russian and international levels. Students represent the university at the All-Russian Cross-Country Athletics Competitions, the All-Russian Championships of the Far Eastern Federal District, the XXII All-Russian Freestyle Wrestling Tournament, the Russian Freestyle Wrestling Championship, the Championships of Russian Universities, the Youth Championships of the Far Eastern Federal District, the Comprehensive Universiade of Educational Institutions of Higher Education of the Khabarovsk Territory and the Jewish Autonomous Region. The number of sports masters and candidates for the master of sports is increasing. The mass involvement of students in sports activities is carried out by the University's Sports Club, which organizes and holds university competitions and championships. Students have the opportunity to engage in sports sections for various sports:
- athletic gymnastics;
- basketball;
- volleyball;
- track and field athletics;
- cross-country skiing;
- table tennis;
- sambo;
- wrestling;
- football;
- chess.
There are about 500 athletes who are involved in competitions on the local, regional, all-Russian, and international levels. For the most active student-athletes, sports contracts, scholarships, and the practice of individualized learning schedules have been introduced.
