The World Urban Forum has held since October 31, 2014. It was established by a resolution of the UN General Assembly in December, 2013. The Forum is held to draw attention of the wide international community to the world urbanization issues, solve problems related to ensuring sustainable development of cities around the world, enhance awareness of sustainable urbanization issues.
Traditionally, conferences and seminars are held on this day, where the member-countries share their experience of urban growth of their cities.
Sholom-Aleichem Priamursky State University took part in the Forum for the first time. Students from many cities of Russia and foreign countries study at the university. So, the event was held to provide cultural exchange and friendly relationships among students. The participants shared information willingly about the history and culture of the cities and countries where they come from. The list of cities presented turned out to be long. It included Belogorsk, Khabarovsk, Baykalsk, Vyazemsky, Neryungri, Dalnerechensk, Dalnegorsk, Nikolayevsk-on-Amur, Ussuriysk, Irkutsk, Vladivostok and others, Russia; Bishkek, Naryn, Karakol, Tar-Suu - the Kyrgyz Republic; Semey, Tokmok - the Republic of Kazakhstan; Jiamusi, Heihe, Tongjiang, Harbin - the People’s Republic of China.
The students from partner institutions of higher education also participated in preparing the reports on Chinese cities. For the first time, students from school # 1 in Zhongqi, Inner Mongolia, took part in the event.
The stories about cities depict the history, national identity, cultural uniqueness of each country represented.
We hope this event will become a good tradition in the university.
